Scrub, Smooth and Moisturize; My Guide to Silky Skin

Shaving-I like to exfoliate my legs and bikini area before I shave, I find this gives me a much closer shave. The exfoliator I like is from a company called 100% Pure and it is called organic chocolate mocha body scrub. This company makes all natural and organic products only. This smells wonderful and organic dark Belgian chocolate is the first ingredient. It contains grapeseed and blackcurrant oil so you need to be careful when you're using it in the shower because it can make the shower floor slippery. You can order it from www.100PercentPure.com or you can order it from www.qvc.com and the item number is A165971. I just started using a new shaving cream that I'm really crazy about and it is called NUI shaving cream can be ordered from www.AfricanPacific.com These are all natural 100% organic products and are made with cold-pressed virgin olive oil. They have a couple of different scents and the one I'm using has lemon myrtle. I believe this is meant for a man and to be used with a shaving brush but I just scoop some out with my fingers and spread it on my legs and underarms.

After I shave, I apply a 1% hydrocortisone cream called Dermarest Eczema Medicated lotion on my legs and this helps to prevent any bumps or irritation. I get this at my local drugstore. I use a roll-on product in my bikini area after I shave and it is called PFB vanish. It has ingredients that help prevent razor burn, bumps and ingrown hairs. I actually picked this up at a salon but you can get it at www.folica.com Neither one of these products are considered natural but they do not have too much unwanted ingredients and once again I only use them like once a week. Otherwise, I walk around with red bumps or ingrown hairs and that is not very attractive.

I recently bought my husband a similar type of shaving cream and shaving brush and he really likes it. He says he gets a much closer shave with this cream and the brush. The shaving cream that I got for him is from a company called the Gentleman's Refinery and it is simply called unscented shave cream. Their website is www.THEGR.com . You can also order a shaving brush from this company.

As far as body lotions, anything from the 100% Pure line is very good. They have dozens of flavors so to speak. I really like the blood orange body lotion. You can go to www.100PercentPure.com or you can order from www.qvc.com and just type in 100% Pure in the search bar and all their products will come up. Once again, it's an all natural and organic line and they have some great sets.

As far as foot care is concerned, I found a foot care cream from a company called Nordic Care. This is a mostly natural product and really helps to keep your feet soft. You can go to www.Nordiccare.com to order and one tube will last you a long time. It contains lactic acid and eucalyptus oil. The eucalyptus oil is very refreshing and the lactic acid will keep the dead skin from building up. I also keep a pumice stone in the shower and use it every couple of days. The one I like is called Mr. Pumice and can be purchased at Sally's beauty supply. You really need to take care of your feet ladies. There is nothing worse than seeing dry cracked heels and chipped toenail polish when wearing sandals or open shoes. If you are not going to keep up with regular pedicures, then just buff your toenails with a 3 way buffer to create a natural shine and you will not have to worry about dull chipped toenail polish. You can pick this buffer up at Sally's beauty supply. It is called Flash Shiner it is by Design Nail.

I have tried all kinds of all natural bath soaps but the one that I really like now is from Dr. Woods and it is called Dr. Woods Black Soap with Shea Butter. Black soap has been used in Africa for generations. It is derived from plaintain skins. It is also very inexpensive. It is about $4.00 for a 16 oz bottle. You can order it from www.luckyvitamin.com I ordered 12 bottles and they only charged me $5.95 shipping for the whole order. Black soap gives you a real nice clean feeling. It is touted to help with everything from scalp irritation, rough skin, acne, blemishes and a list of other things. I especially like the smell of this for some reason. It is kind of earthy if I had to describe it but not like dirt! The shea butter adds a nice softness to you skin. It is a liquid so I use with one of those shower puffs or mits that you can get at any bathshop or the drugstore.

Since we are the subject of  body care do you ever get those little bumps on the back of your upper arm? You know, chicken skin? I do from time to time. They are actually just clogged pores. What I actually use is something from Proactive called Repairing Lotion. You can order it by itself at www.qvc.com This is actually an acne product for the face but when I get this chicken skin, it really clears it up. Exfoliate really well in the shower to help this problem also. This is not considered an all natural product but this is an instance where I find it works and since most everything else I use is natural or organic I am okay with using it for now. I am in the process of trying to find a more natural one. Mychelle has a product called Clear Skin Serum that has salicylic acid. This helps to unblock clogged pores so I will give this one a try. You can google Mychelle and find the website. I was unable to provide a link. The products are also sold in most major health food stores.
